Depression haunts some of us in a subtle way. All the religious cliches are of no use sometimes. When we feel down and hopeless it is always good to find relevant scriptures to cheer ourselves up. Knowledge and application of the word gives us a victorious life.
Matthew 6:33 admonishes us to "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." I know that those 'things' referred to in Matthew's Gospel include peace of mind, joy unspeakable and divine providence.
In this spiritual walk we have to keep our eyes focused on the Lord and remember His promises despite the way our situations look. Those instances are tests to see how strong our faith is.
For we walk by faith and not by sight. We must be convinced that "all things work together for the good of them that love the Lord and are called according to His purpose." "All thing are possible to them that believe."
We must trust in the Lord and be of good courage and He will strengthen our hearts. For the battle is not ours it is the Lord's. There are more for us than those that are against us; for if Christ be for us who can be against us? We must also remember that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but they are mighty through God for the pulling down of strongholds.
I therefore face discouragement head-on and tell it to return to the pits of hell. My God has done exceedingly and abundantly above all I ever can ask or think according to the fath that worketh in me. There is a lot of faith in me. I now stir it up in Jesus' name.
