Topic: Happy (07/12/07)
Holding my newborn child makes me happy, overwhelmed feelings of joy and elation, but the process of getting there, well, let's say, happiness takes a hike during my long months of pregnancy and tells me she will meet me at the hospital delivery room when the pain is all over. Happiness doesn't stick around like a faithful friend. She does not like to share the stage with suffering. She can only be present when all of my circumstances are pleasing me. In this I have learned that happiness isn't my constant companion, Jesus is. Happiness can not teach me all the deep things of God. Pain and suffering make me more merciful and compassionate than happiness ever could. I cannot live for the feeling of happiness, because wisdom has taught me that some of life's happiest moments come out of seasons of trial and sadness. Happiness is temporal and teaches me that this life cannot hold the fullest blessings of God. If I were always happy, I wouldn't long for Heaven. We long for happiness to the point of idol worship. In our current society, the overfocus of pleasure and happiness have brought leaness of soul to our nation. God challenges us to "...seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matthew 6:33 KJV) Our happiness needs to be in building His kingdom, not in what this world has to offer. So in that thought, I more happy that I am a mother with strechmarks and fading outward beauty, because I am raising a godly seed for His kingdom.

Breaking this into paragraphs would help with readability. Keep writing!

I loved your title and it really ties your entry together! You brought out some wonderful truths as well such as the line, "In our current society, the overfocus of pleasure and happiness have brought leaness of soul to our nation." I'm so thankful that although we will not be constantly "happy" on this earth, we can still have joy through keeping our eyes our Savior.
