“This is Mother Earth, go ahead Space Ship One.”
“I’ve arrived at a planet.”
“We don’t have you on radar, where are you? What does it look like?”
“Well, I don’t know exactly where I am. The planet’s big and has so many colors and lights on it. There’s a ring around it like Saturn but this one has all the colors of the rainbow in it. And it’s moving.”
“Moving?” asked Mother Earth.
“Yes, and…the colors are…oh, wow…it’s a rainbow made of butterflies!”
“Wow wee, what else do you see?”
“I’m going to beam down to the planet and look. Space Ship One over and out. Talk to you when I beam back up.”
The first things I see down on the planet are the sunsets. There’s a different colored sunset in every direction and they all keep changing colors.
Someone speaks to me and I turn around.
“Welcome. I’m glad you could visit us,” a gentle voice says. He is dressed in bright white clothes and has great big shiny wings.
“Thank you, who are you and where am I?”
“I’m your guarding angel and, well, you are here.” (1)
“Hi. ‘Here’ is really a neat place. Look over there, who is that man with all the animals?”
“That’s Noah and those are two of every kind of animal in the world. They all came with him here.” (2)
“Even those great big dinosaurs? They look so mean!”
“Yes, but they’re not mean. There’s nothing mean or bad here. Nothing. Want to meet one?”
“Ah…I don’t know…maybe. Are you sure they’re not mean.”
“I’m sure. Mr. Tyrannosaurus Rex, come over and meet our guest.”
The dinosaur hops, skips, and jumps over and leans down looking me in the eyes. I’m surprised because I’m not scared.
He reaches out his big hand with claws on it and shakes my hand, “Hi. Welcome and glad to meet you.” His voice is squeaky and funny, I laugh. His claws aren't hard; they're soft. He gives me a kiss with his big tongue. It tickles and I giggle. He says good bye and goes back to play with the other animals.
I ask the angel if all animals come here.
“If you want them to, they will be,” the angel says.
“Will Tuffy, my dog that died when I was young and Polly, my little black kitten who died as a baby, be here?”
The angel says, “Turn around.”
I do and Tuffy and Polly both jump into my arms and give me kisses and kisses and kisses. What joy it is to see them again!
I notice all the flowers. How beautiful.
"Oh no, I’m standing on them!"
The angel tells me to jump up in the air and stay there. I jump and somehow stay up in the air. I look down; none of the flowers are hurt.
The angel tells me, “Nothing gets hurt here. Remember?”
I hear music but can’t see anyone singing.
“Who’s singing?”
“Listen real close,” the angel says, “where is it coming from?”
“It sounds like the rocks are singing.”
“That’s right. Remember in the Bible that Jesus said that even the rocks will sing praises to Him.” (3)
“Oh, this must be real ROCK MUSIC!” We laugh.
I have to leave and ask if I could come back again.
“You can come back anytime you want. Just use your imagination.”
"Is this Heaven?"
“Oh, no!" The angel says, "You can try to imagine as much as you want what Heaven is like but you can never imagine how good Heaven is. God gave you an imagination and He likes you to use it but Heaven is so much better than anything anyone can ever imagine, even better than here.” (4)
“Wow, Heaven must be really beautiful! How do I get there?”
“Heaven is beautiful because it’s God’s home. If you ask Jesus into your heart then one day you will go to live with Him in Heaven.” (5)
“I did that already! Can grownups come here and Heaven too?”
“Yes, they come the same way you did.” (6)
I say good-bye and beam back.
“Space Ship One to Mother Earth. I can tell you what the planet is like but you’ll have to use your imagination… a lot!”
