“Where are we?” Karen anxiously asked Rene’.
“Well … it seems like we might just be in what people called the Old West.”
Karen wasn’t too sure that they were anywhere ‘real’ at all. But suddenly she heard the most beautiful music. She looked for the source of it. As far as she could see there was nothing but rocks! Rocks and sand and tumbleweeds. Rene’ helped her look for the source of the music. No one else was around so it couldn’t be people. No birds were flying so it wasn’t a bird’s song.
It seemed like the music was coming from the very rocks themselves.
Suddenly, inexplicably, everything around them changed.
“Where are we NOW?” Karen again anxiously asked Rene’.
“I’d say we are looking at the Rock of Gibraltar! One of the most famous rock locations on Earth!”
“How did we get HERE?”
Karen and Rene’ wondered aloud about what was happening to them. Then, once again, they heard the music. The mysterious melodies that seemed too awesome to have come from the mind of a mere mortal person.
They listened intently as the most beautiful music they could image seemed to spring forth from this immense rock formation that seemed to be just beyond their reach.
Once again, in an instant, the environment they were in morphed into yet another unfamiliar place.
Rene’ whispered to herself, just loud enough that Karen could barely hear what she was saying “My goodness, this looks like biblical times…this looks like Jesus speaking with Peter…what is He saying? It sounds like He said ‘On this Rock I will build my church.’”
Beyond her own belief, Rene turned to Karen and said “I think I know where we are. It’s not plausible but still it seems to be true. Are you ready for this my dear friend? We, you and me, we are in a television world. If I’m not mistaken, we are jumping from show to show. First that western, then a travel show, and now a religious program.”
Karen refused to face the facts. She denied that it was possible for two living human beings to be transformed into figures on a television screen.
In an instant the scene changed again and now they appeared to be standing in the back of a church service. Rene’ and Karen listened as the televangelist said “And He answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”
Karen almost screamed in delight but thinking the wiser, softly whispered to Rene’, “I recognize that verse! Our preacher used to tell us that if we stopped praising God that the very rocks and stones would take over for us and sing praises…just like the rocks we visited in the old west and at Gibraltar.”
They stood in stone silence taking it all in. Two young women with wonderful families at home, stuck, stuck in a world that they thought only existed in their minds. Stuck in a world that we usually don’t believe to exist in reality. Stuck in television waves.
But why?
These two were transported into a parallel world to learn a lesson. A lesson on what is important in life. A lesson on praise. A lesson.
But how could they get out of the airwaves? How could they get back to their families?
Well, that would be up to the Master Director of the programs…and He says that His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts…and He has a reputation for doing things…in His own time.

The phrase "seemed to" jumped at me a few times -- maybe overuse?
This is an intriguing concept that could make an interesting longer read. Really makes me think about what I'm "learning" from the shows I choose to watch.
God bless.
