Who did it, what was the scheme,
What was the motive, where was the scene,
What was the weapon that the killer used,
Was there a treasure, what are the clues?
What are the details, check every fact,
All leads must be followed this mystery to crack.
If someone is lying, will the truth be told,
Can the mystery be solved before the trail gets cold?
Now, into the story, our hero appears,
Already he’s working, impressing his peers.
He’s carefully combing the crime scene to find
If there is a chance DNA stayed behind.
Scour the crime scene, study every clue,
There’s got to be something that doesn’t ring true,
Check out the time frames and alibis,
With just one slip, he’ll discover the lies!
Was there a witness…there simply must be,
Surely someone took notice, so what did they see?
Follow this lead, check out that tip,
This mystery’s got me firm in it’s grip.
So how it will end, I’ve got to discover,
I’ll turn up the lamp and pull up the cover.
I’ve got to keep reading, ’though it’s half-past-three,
I can’t close the book---the suspense is killing me!
