Topic: Favoritism (02/28/05)
Showing favoritism to certain people is just plain wrong! While a teacher may have a special heart for a specific student, no one enjoys being called the teacher’s pet. In its own way it is a form of discrimination against those not as preferred. A boss can’t give special treatment to certain employees while not extending that same favor to others. That would be showing favoritism! In this world that is ABSOLUTELY wrong and not legal. Wait just one minute. Does that mean that God is ABSOLUTELY wrong?

He loves me more than I deserve. He died on the cross for my sins and shows me favor by adopting me into His family. Of course, He is not of this world. God is perfect and knows all. Wouldn’t He know if showing me favoritism was wrong? Besides, He doesn’t show me favoritism and not others who accept Him in their lives as well. Plus, He has told everyone that He is a just God and those who reject Him will pay the consequences of eternal separation from Him. That’s not human favoritism that is unfair, but God’s grace, love, and mercy which no one can earn or even deserves.

I guess when I put this perspective on things, I’m glad that His favoritism is NOT absolutely wrong. As part of this world, I will try not to show others favoritism that excludes others and has no consequences. But from now on, I am going to make an extra effort to show His love, grace and mercy to others through my lifestyle so that they might see Him clearer through my actions. To do this I must remain focused on Him, seeing others through His eyes and not my own.

Are you favored by God too? We can live forever with that kind of FAVORITISM.

I really liked this article. It has a good perspective. You do a nice job of showing why God is not always fair and of how that is a good thing.
I might be wrong, but from my perspective there could be a difference between fairness and favoritism.

I got just a little confused in the middle; if you were showing God did favor people who believed in him over those he did not? But regardless, the ending made the point and that's what counts! I also liked the beginning, the sharp small points of why in the world it does do harm
