With so much talk about purpose these days, Christians feel greater pressure to have their lives in perfect order. But God never commanded such. He called us to follow the One who DOES have it all together. The gospel offers us such freedom! When we consider its reality, then, why are we so quick to lose perspective?
I once heard a godly woman say that heaven is not just dessert, but the main point. If we truly reflected upon the truth of that statement, our daily worries and frustrations would not consume us. We would not exist in a state of perpetual bitterness, but one of hope instead. To lose focus for a minute is to shun the meaningfulness of our true purpose. Jesus commands us to fix our eyes upon Him, and there could never be a more glorious destination than to be in His presence in heaven. As much as we are inclined to believe it at times, our daily moments do not reflect an eternal curse. Jesus eradicated such a problem. Let us therefore maintain perspective and live out our purpose by never losing sight of His perfect sacrifice. And leave a little more travel time for red lights.
