“Oh, my son, how beautiful you are! I never thought I would be here today holding you. You are a very special young man. God has big plans for you, I know.” she took hold of his tiny hand, his fingers wrapped around her index finger.
“How your grandfather would have loved you! He did love little boys. He had two of his own, you know. My sons were so good to me, cared for me and respected me. You make sure that you do the same for your mother.” she smiled thoughtfully.
“Your mother! Where do I begin to tell you what an incredible mother you have! You see, your mother, was married to one of my sons. She was so kind to him and she fit quickly into our family. She truly became the daughter I never had. Sadly, my son died. Your grandfather, and my other son also died, we were left all alone.” she paused and took in a deep breath, she let it out slowly and continued.
“I was living far away from the land and people I knew, so I decided to make the journey home. I told your mother to stay there, her family was there, but she is a strong woman and told me she was going with me, no matter what. She’s like that, your mom, when she sets her mind to something you can be sure that it will get done!” she smiled, remembering back to the not too distant past.
“When we arrived here, everyone could tell I had been through a hard time. God had allowed us to go through a great time of trials, during the tough times I didn’t fully understand all that God was doing. But now, oh now, I can see that if we hadn’t gone through those times, we wouldn’t be here and I wouldn’t be holding you, my precious son!” she wiped a tear from her cheek.
“After our long trip, your mother went right to work. She set out right away because we had little money and were in need of food. She chose a place to work and it happened to be owned by your father. What wonderful ways God has! Your father was very kind to her and made sure she had enough for us to eat. I knew quickly that God was about to do something great!”
“I encouraged your mother to speak to your father, and well, they ended up getting married! And that brings us to you! You are their reward for their faithfulness. And you are such a blessing! I came home empty but now, yes now, I am filled with great joy! Praise the Lord!”
“Ruth, Boaz, he’s absolutely beautiful! God will surely do great things through him!”
