Hands folded in prayer and kneeling by her bed, she tearfully poured our her heart to the Lord. Reaching for a tissue she sat on the edge of the bed and cradled her head in her hands. “Lord, please help me, I’m desperate. I don’t think I can take anymore.”
“My girl, why do you worry so? I have your situation in my control every time you give it to me. I have heard your petitions and your prayers. Do you think that I would let this life hurt you? My plan is for you to have hope for a good future not a future full of worry and pain. Walk in my way, listen to my voice and stay close to my side. In this way, you will not stray off of the path that I am setting before you. Listen to my voice and not that of another who wants to lie and cheat you out of the blessings and promises that I have waiting. With you by my side, if you do happen to trip and start to fall, you can reach out to me and I will save you from a lot of grief. My desire is that you learn lessons from this life so that you will be a benefit to someone else who needs a friend. Yes, a friend. My word says ‘This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.’ (John 15:12-14) There are many people in similar situations feeling left out, abandoned and blackballed. The do not deserve it either, but are not strong enough to overcome. I need a messenger. Are you willing to walk this way for me, for them? I know it’s a hard walk and a hurtful one, but I also know that when I make the connection for you to touch that other person you will know and understand why you had to walk on this lonely course. Do you remember the last time? You were sitting around the table with the girls and everyone was discussing what pain in your past could be used to help someone else? How many issues in your life came up that didn’t have the sting of devastation anymore? And the one issue you swore you would never tell anyone about, you spilled the beans right there because you knew that other girl needed to hear it. I am telling you the same thing will happen with life now. Hang on to me. All you need to know is that I love you. I know it’s hard not to have man’s approval but what is eternal…man’s or God’s?”
Filled with truth and conviction, she prepared herself for another day. Gathering her items to take to the office, she hesitated by her picture of Jesus, the one with the caption, “He stretched out his arms for his friends.” Gently, she touched the glass and thought about her time with Lord. He loves me so much. Filled with peace, she grabbed her jacket, lunch and her bible and left for the day.
