In seven stanzas (counting the last line as a stanza) you wrote a type of ascending psalm, like Psalm 64 that begins with a plea for deliverance from enemies and 'ascends' to rejoicing in God's faithfulness to deliver.
This sounds like the cry from an abused person for deliverance. Was that the fight that "wasn’t supposed to go that far"? Was that the reason for the desire to run away and not meaning to stay?
Such hope to cling to in the ending lines!
