You once went to the nursery
and saw a beautiful tree;
You liked the way its branches grow,
the trunk, the leaves,
and the tender shoots too;
You asked the nursery man
how much it costs, as well as
the necessary care it needed most;
For a moment, you were discouraged
the price, he said, is expensive.
You went home that day, cannot forget,
thinking of that beautiful tree,
it looked so great;
You started to think and counted
the cost, and you weighed it
against the benefit;
Because you liked the tree very much,
you saw it perfect and no spot;
You went back to the nursery man,
you’re willing to pay the price
and its maintenance.
You brought the tree home
and planted it, everyday
you made sure you watered it;
You fertilized it on a regular basis,
and pruned its branches
when it needed;
The tree grew because of your care,
under it, you put a table
and some chairs;
Its shade became your resting place,
when the outside world
was full of stress.
Along the way, something had happened,
you became busy, time were shortened;
No time to care
for the tree you loved,
now, even the tree is falling apart;
Because no more water was going in,
to its deepest roots
that needed to cling;
Some of its branches started to wither,
eventually, some died
and became brittle.
Your tree and you were not happy,
you even became somewhat grumpy;
Your world started to drift apart,
you knew, something’s missing
in your heart;
One day, you went outside
and saw your tree,
its leaves were withered
as you can see;
You immediately got a hose,
and sprayed water on the tree
you chose.
Now my friend, I just want you to know
A tree is just a good analogy,
of a man you married long ago;
You married him because
you loved him very much,
At that time, you didn’t see in him
any blemish or spot.
Your love and respect
were his fertilizer,
Your encouraging words were his water;
Because of your care for him,
he had flourished,
He became your strength
in time of stress.
When you stopped caring,
he did not grow
And that terribly affected you;
He was full of pain and so were you,
that’s because you are one now,
formerly two.
Get back my friend,
and search for solutions
To any problem you may have,
anything in question;
Take care of each other
and you’ll flourish together
This will be a wonderful way of life,
as you grow older.

I wasn't expecting the metaphor to a marriage--very effective!
