Your title entrigued me. A wonderful illustration of hope.

In the sentence, 'Just as snowshoes could keep our feet from sinking into the treacherous snow, hope can keep our souls from perishing in utter despondency.' - I think it would work well to put this is the present tense as in: "Just as snowshoes keep our feet from sinking into the treacherous snow, hope keeps our souls from perishing in utter despondency.'
A lot going on in this piece - with a lot of good biblical information. Have you tried any of the FaithWriter writing lessons? I think you would really do well.
The writing program you used seemed to have put a different ending on a few words but the article could still be read with understanding.

I liked the comparisons you used.

I will have to do a little studying about the "key of David". I had not seen that phrase before as I had read the bible.
