The simple act of inhaling and exhaling, the simple act of our heart pumping to a rhythm which keeps us alive. But is it simple? It is said our body is a complex machine, one that cannot function well if a vital organ is not doing well. It creates havoc throughout the body.
That’s the physical body, one that God created, and He knows the whole body, and why He did it this way.
He also gave knowledge to our Doctors, Nurses, and Scientists to fix, create, and change what is needed for each of our lives. But even then there is a time when nothing can be done and the physical body simply dies. The simple act of inhaling and exhaling is ceased here on earth.
I have always believed there was a God, What little bit I learned or was told made me believe in Him, but I had not given my heart to Him because I did not know we had too.
I grew up and got married and had a wonderful loving husband and soon two beautiful children, a girl first, Robin, and then a boy, James. I had great parents, but who were not Christians. But my brother and sister and I were loved.
As my life continued I knew that there must be more to live than being born, growing up, going to school, getting married, or college, getting older, maybe a career, becoming senior adults and eventually dying. What was life all about, we were here on earth, but why? We continued to inhale and exhale but why? We each had to do this, and yet for some it was a short life on earth and some a very long life here. It went on for generations and why?
It made no sense to me until I sat in church and a Pastor told me the truth. How do I know it was the truth, because when you have the Spirit of the Lord swaying you to open your heart and hear the truth you have no doubt.
I gave my heart to Jesus, and all the burdens and the searching was over. I knew then that earth was not ‘my home’ but this place was just a passing through place where each of us was to make a choice to have a life with God or without Him. He loves us so much that He wants none of us to parish, but to have life everlasting with Him. The verse so much loved and cherished by all is John: 16 For God so loved the world that He gave is only begotten son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have every lasting life.
The sad part about all of this is that we cannot save anyone ourselves, we cannot get anyone to Heaven by anything in our selves, Jesus is the only way. But by prayer, fasting and spreading the word to our love ones, to our friends and people who do not even know us. This we are to do till the Lord Returns.
Everyone has a choice to make and to make it soon because no one knows the hour or day that we will depart from this world, and it’s then that your soul will go where you chose for it go.
Sad, if you made no choice, then you will be apart from our Lord and Savior for ever.
But you see, you still will be inhaling and exhaling. Our souls do not die, if you’re still not sure then read the Bible. If you like to read non-fiction then this is the book for you, it will change your life. It made a believer out of me and gave the answers as to why I am here…..

In any devotional, I always hope for more personal anecdotes, to help me relate more to the writer. That's the case here, too.
This made me think--will our spiritual bodies have the need to breathe?
