Topic: Singing (10/31/05)
Chandra took in a deep breath of the fresh fall air. Warmth spread through her body. A slight smile spread across her small lips, as she moved down the steps.
Crunching began beneath her feet as she descended down the leaf covered hill. she took in the fall colors, “So vivid” she thought, fire orange, pale pea green, burnt red, butter nut browns and maple yellow “So many heaped upon the lawn” she thought, she exhaled as more leaves fluttered to the ground.
Thoughts began emerging through her young mind, a deep loss upon her heart, tugged by the fall weather. She would turn thirty years old this coming year, and still has no child to hold. As the wind chime glass tear drops continued clinking, in her eyes tears formed. A couple days from now, hosts of small children would come to tricker treat.
Her raking became more extreme, feeling the heat in her arms and bending in her knees, she felt like falling into the leaves she piled. “I can’t go on like this Lord, I need you!” she said softly. Hot wet tears fell in a rush, flowing down her lightly freckled cheeks, as long copper hair blew all around her face. She withdrew a tattered cloth from her jeans, wiping her red runny nose, with the other end she dabbed at her eyes and cheeks.
She took in a deep breath; an image of a little boy of about five years old came to her mind, from last years Halloween. She had opened the door, as her faithful yellow lab nosed her way to see who had come to visit. “Awe” she said to the little boy, as he giggled, he was dressed as an orphan. She reached into her bucket filled with candy and gospel tracks. His little hands were holding a tattered sign that read, “I have no mommy or daddy can I please have some extra candy?” She had prayed then in her heart that even though it had been a costume, he had not been a real orphan, that one day he would hold a bible in his hands and have the Lord in his heart. Tears had filled her eyes then, for there are children with no parents, no one to love them.
Truth was she would have given her last bit of what ever she had, to hold and love a child that the Lord would place in her hands. To wipe tears off chubby cheeks, to calm a crying child, to have giggles fill her home, what she wouldn’t give. To be touched by those blessed little sticky hands, reaching for her brought a smile to her face as more tears streamed down her face. To see smiles and surprised eyes, wide open from yet another new discovery and wonder of every day. To hear there little voices speaking about their big thoughts, thoughts that always amazed her. She could see so much wisdom, the very heart of God, over flowing from their hearts, minds and lives. Oh to be around a child, is to be in the very presence of Jesus.
The Lord sung to her heart and her heart over flowed.
Chandra my child, oh how I collect each tear in the palm of my hand,
I heard you call. I am molding your very life, into a beautiful work of art.
I heard you cry, felt your tears, your Lord is here.
I still the waves of doubt, your fears of never, being, and hoping to be a mother.
For you I have great plans.
My dear you, already are, a mother.
I gave you the very heart that sees joy, tears and smiles of all my little ones.
Your ears are attentive to hear their cries, giggles, awes, gurgles and thoughts.
Your hands are eager to reach, as they crawl, walk, fall, steady and guide their little steps.
To you my daughter I share not one,
A dozen, as you step into children’s church
Eager to serve, teach the truth and share my word.
Oh how my heart sings with joy, as I watch and hear them singing, Jesus loves the little children.
Yes my child I do so much!
Always let your heart, sing to me,
Smile your sweet smile
Let your hope rest in me,
“I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”
