The next Tuesday, I received the same e-mail again; also a few e-mails I sent out were returned. The simple word hello was on the subject line. I opened an e-mail from my brother-in-law, Rob, telling me that someone hacked into my e-mail, hence my computer is sending out e-mails with my name on it.
Well, I knew that not to be the case because I check my e-mail on two different computers. I told him in an e-mail back and told him that I would take care of it.
I thought that the solution was to change my password, so I did. Problem solved, or so I thought.
The following week, the same thing happened and again I opened an e-mail from Rob. I sent him another answer and reassured him I would handle it.
Guess what happened the following Tuesday... I received another e-mail from Rob and answered immediately. Rob I’m attempting to correct the problem as soon as possible.
Then I had major problems at work. I didn't know it at the time, but for the next two weeks I would put in 12 hour days.
The same spam e-mail repeated itself the next Tuesday. Guess who I heard from. I sent the following e-mail to him:
Rob,
The past few weeks I have told you I will take care of it. First, I changed my password. I thought that would fix the problem. Apparently that didn’t work. Now I am going to need to close my account and start over. I have some very important e-mails that I need transfer from one e-mail box to another. That takes time because I have over 300 messages in my box.
Guys like my self got to have their toys, and we love technology.
I am trying to be nice about what I want to say to you. I have had some complications at work. I have had to put in 12 hour days. I barely have time when I get home to eat much less check my e-mails.
I have a full time job; apparently you eat and sleep at your computer 24 hours a day. I wish I could have that luxury.
You call yourself a Christian, the Bible says not to put anything before God. I’ve known you for 20 years and it seems like entertainment is your idol.
You need to put God first, not entertainment. I wish I'd been able to correct the problem last week, but I couldn’t. You need to understand that work comes first, when I have free time I will resolve the situation.
Please forgive me if I have been too hard on you.
I still love you.
Keven
