Many years ago, God placed it on my heart to become a writer. Because that longing has never left me, I decided to enroll in long distance children’s writing classes. My faith in Jesus through the Bible persuaded me to take these classes.
Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to His purpose.
When I am still with the Lord, He speaks to me in many ways. He uses the Bible; He sends me people to encourage me; and He puts the desires in my heart. I do believe that Jesus wants me to become a published paid writer. Since I believe this to be true, Jesus persuades me every day to stay the course.
Over the last year, I have joined a writer’s group. This Christian writer’s group encourages me weekly to keep writing.
Now that I’m in a healthier spot physically after my June 1,2011 surgery, I can once again commit to weekly church. Each week the pastor’s sermons have persuaded me to continue on the writer’s journey.
Yesterday’s sermon was exactly what my heart needed. If you haven’t read 2 Kings 4:1-7, you might want to find it in your own Bible. I’ll keep you in suspense by NOT telling you the parable. Hopefully, your curiosity will get the best of you.
Once you read the story, how can you apply that parable to your own writing. What steps can you take to be persuaded with the encouragement from that story?
As a Type A personality with a big EGO, I want instant gratification NOW! Enjoying the writer’s journey with baby steps is a discipline for me. These reminders from Jesus persuade me to focus on the immediate work that needs to be done. With Jesus showing me the way, and I doing the necessary writing, my heart’s desire will come true. Possibly not the way I expected but definitely God’s way---the best way.

With a little polishing you could easily submit this to a devotional book or magazine. . Little things like formatting it into a traditional devotion would catch an editor's eye. At the top you could put A Suggested Bible Reading: 2 Kings 4:1-7 Put the Roman's Bible Verse in italics and include the translation of the Bible you quoted from ex KJV etc. and add a prayer.
I really liked how you showed the different ways that you have heard God's calling, I also think it's wonderful that you are pursuing yourwriting. Keep it up and don't get discouraged. Only you can tell the stories God puts on your heart.
