How devastating this revelation was when we realized our fate. The promise of life on earth had been so beautiful. The anticipation of the unknown was exciting as we prepared to make the trip. Then upon our arrival it was nothing like the dream had revealed it would be. Disappointment drowned every ounce of excitement and we were infected with the doom and gloom of the reality of this new place.
We soon learned the details of the act to which we had all succumbed. We understood the power of the temptation of the serpent in the garden as we knew the fallen angel who had spawned the evil in this place. We felt the abandonment of the presence of our Creator just as Adam and Eve had experienced. It represented the punishment which had been handed down by Him and which we had inherited with our birth into sin.
We groped in hopelessness as we longed for passage back to our Creator. And then that passageway was revealed to us. It came through the sign of a cross and the amazing story which accompanied it. Our acceptance of the miracle of death and resurrection through faith freed us from so much. In spite of our crime and its punishment we rejoiced in this life we were given.
We were blessed with a greater understanding of the God who loved us so much that He was willing to sacrifice His only Son as a bridge of reconciliation to a broken relationship. We now stand reunited with our Creator, forgiven of our crime, our punishment abolished, and living in the promise of eternal life.
