I dressed and arrived at the funeral. My family was together for the first time in a very long time. My husband and I sat next to my daughter and son in the funeral. It was bittersweet. I was rejoicing for the Lord bringing my son back to me while my brother was mourning the loss of his daughter. It was a difficult time.
As the eulogy was given by Lindsey’s husband, Shawn about how “love” was the key to her life, it was evident by the crowded church the lives she had touched. My thoughts returned to the past September as I attended Lindsey and Shawn’s wedding. She was a beautiful bride. My lasting picture will be her dancing with her husband and also with her daddy, my brother. As I listened to Shawn share of their adventures the last eleven months, I realized God had blessed Lindsey greatly. God had given her many desires of her heart. Shawn stated how Lindsey’s law was “you never went to bed mad at one another.” I thought how did she get so smart so young.
I realized that life is so short. As with the tragedies of the hurricane and the sudden death of my niece, I realize that you have to overlook some things. Like the disagreement with my son was really avoidable, if I had overlooked some issues. I need to make sure that every moment counts. No matter what, tell the people in my life how important they are to me at that moment because I may not always get a second chance.
I Corinthians 13:2 and though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. (NKJV)
