Really, this is too much! Could the soldier not have warned me! Now look at my tunic – covered in red spots, covered with blood. Really, if he had to make sure the guy was dead; he could have waited for me to back off.
I’m too far from home to return for another robe. Oh, my blood boils. I would go to Joseph’s home or even that of Nicademus but these two have gone mad like the crowds of Jerusalem. They seem to have thought this guy was something special. Come on, would He be up there on the cross if He were anything but a useless, worthless criminal. And now look at my robe – red with His blood. And it won’t wash off. How can I go about business looking like this?
It looked like there was a storm brewing. The place went black and I heard the words, it is finished! What was finished – my business might be finished. Look at this robe, red! Red! Red with His blood. How can I see these people looking like this? If there is a God in heaven, why didn’t He prevent it? Maybe He just doesn’t want me to succeed. He has made life pretty difficult for us Jews, putting us under the tyranny of these Romans. And I believe that Pilate, the governor, washed his hands of having anything to do with putting this so called ‘Messiah’ to death. He must be the coward of the Roman Empire. Actually sent Him off to Herod. Didn’t make any difference though, did it? His body is still up there – and His blood is on me!
Apparently, this guy had some very close friends, but one of them was smart enough to give Him over to the authorities. Seems this so called hero of the people was planning to set Himself up as King in Jerusalem. Just how did He think He was going to manage that with all these soldiers of Rome in charge? He wasn’t only a criminal, He was insane as well! His followers were mere fishermen and the like. What would they have known about waging war again the Imperial Roman Empire? I believe that one of these friends was such a coward that he actually denied even knowing Him. Yep, this guy had to have been insane! And now look at me, red with His blood!
Said He was the Son of God, too! Well, if He was the Son of God, why didn’t God save Him? God is meant to be all powerful. If this was His Son surely He would have saved Him from this horrendous death. Son of God, my foot! He was no more the Son of God than I am. Just goes to prove how guilty He was. Now I’ll have to go into my meeting with apologies because my robe is covered with the blood of an insane criminal – it is red, red with His blood.
And those silly women – howling like a bunch of banshees. You’d have thought the gates of hell had been opened up. Why do they carry on so – and all for a criminal hanging on a cross, getting what He deserved! I didn’t get what I deserved! See! I covered with His blood. My tunic is blotched with red. I have every reason to be upset.
I suppose there was some good in it! He was dead before the Passover. Good thing for the country! I’ll make sure in future that I don’t walk so close to the crosses of criminals – especially if there are soldiers with swords around. That way I won’t be made red with their blood.
You know what! I’m going home. My business is ruined for the day! I can’t possibly go into the meeting red with His blood. Pity about the business but I’m sure they’ll understand. Anyway, it really isn’t urgent. It can wait until after the feast. Wife, I’ll be home earlier than expected. There’s work for you to do. You must remove the blood from my robe. Remove the stain. There must be no read on it.
Thank you, Father, that when You look at me, you see the blood of Jesus. Thank You that You remember the price He paid for me, that He was wounded for my transgressions, that He was bruised for my iniquities, and by the stripes that wounded Him, I am healed.

The last paragraph appears to be written from your own POV--perhaps it could be set apart from the story by a set of three asterisks. And I caught a "read" for "red".
For your readers' sake, an extra "enter" between paragraphs would make it more readable, and I'd hate for anyone to pass over this creative story!
