On a sunny Saturday before Labor Day my mom left for the last time. I just finished mowing the lawn as she pulled out of the driveway. I would remember a note that I found a few weeks earlier that said that she was going to commit suicide at the Bloomington Ferry Bridge. I checked it out for myself and found her car. On Tuesday, September 11, 1979 at 1 o'clock was my mom's funeral.
My dad after my mom's death was hurting. He would attend Single Parents Christian Fellowship meetings. In December he found someone that he decided to get married to. March 1, 1980 he got married.
The following September I entered the ninth grade. My step mom started to see that I was not dealing with my mom's death very well.
During my sophomore year of high school I was put into treatment. I was in there for six weeks. I would later move from the inpatient program to an out patient program. I would eventually attend my high school for three hours and to the treatment program for the rest of the day.
As I look back I wonder where my life would be, if my dad had not re-married, and I was not put into treatment. My dad almost told my pastor to find me new parents. He wanted to leave town. In Romans it says that he will work all things together for the good. I praise the Lord because he has his hand on my life.
