Topic: Passport (07/25/05)
When we travel around this earth going and coming from country to country we need to have a passport that gets stamped each time we enter or leave a country.
This passport is a kind of book that lets the authorities know who you are and where you have been and where you are going.
It is very official and is of utmost importance that it be authenticated.
Because if it is a fraud then you will get thrown into jail and could end up staying there for quite some time.
Now let me tell you about another passport that is the only way that you can have eternal life.
About 2000 years ago a baby was born to a virgin. This baby was a boy who grew up to become known as Jesus the son of God and of man.
He grew from a boy into a very wise man and was hated by those who thought that they were the authority of religion for that time. They hated him that much that they tried very hard to trick him and find fault in his teachings so that they could have him killed.
Many times they tried but they could not prove that he was an impostor or that he was discrediting the law that was given to the people by God through his prophet Moses.
Those in authority had imposed laws and rituals that they said were to be followed and when people failed to follow them they were cast out or crucified. The religious people had become legalistic and imposed self made laws which hindered and falsified the scriptures that they were acting upon.
Because Jesus spoke the truth, it spoke to the hearts of all mankind. This truth which made complete sense to those whom heard it instantly believed and were saved from the burdens placed upon then through the legalistic religions of that time.
Today we see the same things happening people are told that they need to go before a priest to have their sins forgiven.
Many times they are banished and told that they will go to hell for the sin committed and no forgiveness is given let alone offered. This leaves the person feeling really let down and resentful, which is the opposite to scripture.
Luke 24:44 Then he said, “When I was with you before, I told you that everything written about me by Moses and the prophets and in the Psalms must all come true.” 45 Then he opened their minds to understand these many Scriptures. 46 And he said, “Yes, it was written long ago that the Messiah must suffer and die and rise again from the dead on the third day. 47 With my authority, take this message of repentance to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who turn to me.’ New living
We to can have our minds opened to this understanding when we genuinely seek his will and face, as stated above!
Hebrews10 The old system in the law of Moses was only a shadow of the things to come, not the reality of the good things Christ has done for us. The sacrifices under the old system were repeated again and again, year after year, but they were never able to provide perfect cleansing for those who came to worship. 2 If they could have provided perfect cleansing, the sacrifices would have stopped, for the worshipers would have been purified once for all time, and their feelings of guilt would have disappeared.
3 But just the opposite happened. Those yearly sacrifices reminded them of their sins year after year. 4 For it is not possible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins. 5 That is why Christ, when he came into the world, said,
“You did not want animal sacrifices and grain offerings.
But you have given me a body so that I may obey you.
6 No, you were not pleased with animals burned on the altar
or with other offerings for sin.
7 Then I said, ‘Look, I have come to do your will, O God—
just as it is written about me in the Scriptures.’ ”
New Living translation
8 Christ said, “You did not want animal sacrifices or grain offerings or animals burned on the altar or other offerings for sin, nor were you pleased with them” (though they are required by the law of Moses). 9 Then he added, “Look, I have come to do your will.” He cancels the first covenant in order to establish the second. 10 And what God wants is for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time.
11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands before the altar day after day, offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as one sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down at the place of highest honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled as a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he perfected forever all those whom he is making holy.
15 And the Holy Spirit also testifies that this is so. First he says,
16 “This is the new covenant I will make
with my people on that day, says the Lord:
I will put my laws in their hearts
so they will understand them,
and I will write them on their minds
so they will obey them.”
We can come a long way when we understand what is written and follow the message that the son of God left us all those years ago.
We can be set free and become new people when we seek his face and mercies!
So my friends, read the scripture and seek the truth, for yourself and be free of all guilt and unforgiveness that clouds and hinders our minds and bodies.
Jesus is our passport full of living water and food for eternal life with him forever more!
May your hearts grow to be burden free and become joyous when we realise that we to can be set free through believing in Jesus as our risen saviour!
