I opened my eyes and saw the light of the sun coming through the open curtained window.
“Whisssssshhhh” bacon and egg frying on the pan.
“wwwhhhhiiisssttllleee” brewed coffee boiling.
I got up, fixed our bed, took a bath, suit up and sat at the dining table with my early morning newspaper reading.
“Good morning honey” greeting my wife while she packs my son’s lunch.
“Good Morning too, how’s your sleep?” she replied back with a smile.
“Its fine, boy, I slept like a log” I smiled back.
“I notice that too. Glad you did”
“I’ll be home early tonight there’s only little things to do at work.”
“That’s nice so that means you can help June with his homework?”
“I’d be glad to. Bye!” kissing her as I go grab my car keys.
“As I drove on my way to work this morning how I long for things to be like how I picture them earlier. But the more I think of it to be perfect the more I am deeply soaked in sadness and self-pity.
I and my wife had been living separately for almost three years now and though we didn’t get the chance to have children I regretted marrying her at her age of eighteen.
She missed so many things in her life that she started rebelling against the choices she made and one of them is marrying me, a sixty year old man. I somehow regret wrecking her life this way.
I don’t blame her for making her life busy at work and finding comfort from her family than me, but as much as I want to make her happy I believe I failed her so deeply.” I said looking back at my friend.
He looked at me, smiled, tapped my shoulder and said, “I’ve been your friend long since I can’t remember and have heard about how all your two previous marriages failed. They were also a result of your bad choices, a spur of the moment decisions because so much pressure is in you.
I believe it’s time for you to start looking up to God and hear what He has to say.
Don’t always look down on yourself because while you’re still alive there is still hope.
You just have to do the right thing to find that hope from God.
You know my friend when it is hard to do the right thing, work harder to do the right thing.”
“Thanks man” without really understanding what he just said.
“You’re welcome, give it all to God, He knows how to deal with it all.”
When I got home, empty like it always have been. I gazed my eyes through it and found my eyes looking at my book shelf and all that I could see is a book, written are letters B-i-b-l-e.
I opened it and read Proverbs 18:22 “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing and obtaineth favour of the Lord.” (KJV)
I fell on my knees, held the book high up and as I looked at it my heart pounded so peacefully that tears fell through my eyes, running on my cheeks and on my neck.
Never did it happen to me that tears refreshed me like it ever did just now.
