I was born in this great nation.
Our forefathers unselfishly struggled so hard,
Planning for our generation.
Yet, we see so little appreciation
For all the trials that they went through.
They sacrificed much, and even gave their lives!
Yes, they died for me, and for you.
They struggled so hard, being led by the God
Who led them where they could be free.
They praised, and thanked our God who supported them;
Spending much time on bended knee.
Today, where has all of the devotion gone?
We selfishly focus on “me”.
God has commanded, we must love others,
Or, where will our great nation be?
I’m reminded of the Israelites of old,
When god blessed them, they walked away.
It was only when they knelt and repented,
Again they were led in God’s Way.
God is waiting for us to come back to Him.
He’ll lead us to a better day.
There is a price to pay, for our wayward lives.
We must trust Him, and yes, obey!
This country is still best of all the nations,
Don’t let our freedoms slip away!
Our country can still be healed of its great flaws,
Allowing God to have full sway.
Oh, yes, I’m glad to be placed in this homeland,
In spite of its drifting away.
Hand in hand, and, on our knees, we’ll see changes.
God bless us, and our U.S.A.!

As a fellow poet, I would suggest you work at adding more imagery to this poem, so it speaks to the heart in a way even more moving and inspiring.
