This reminds me of a Thomas Kincade portrait! A lovely little town with such a sense of community and a home that held so many wonderful memories! I loved the line with the ruby-sunlight. What a neat description! ^_^
I love this setting. Have you thought about setting a story here? I would like to read it!

I love your title, and the fact that you appealed to every sense. Nice.
Aww, sweet memories. I especially liked the part about the ruby sunset because I, too, would run outside and dance in the rays in that moment when the earth was splashed a golden hue.
Your descriptions were right on. I especially like this "still causes my watering taste buds to cavort in anticipation."
Keep up the goos words.

I remember those times of trusting and unlocked doors. Your writing is so descriptive I could hear the stereo as you sat on the front porch. I remember a few of our early phonograph records. I've heard so much about pineapple upside-down cake made in a cast-iron skillet, but alas, I've never tasted one.. :( Your ending sentence ties this sensory picture all together.

Lovely descriptions - you really put me there. Love your title too.
Lovely warm story. Your family home sounds so like the home I grew up in and have tried to crete for my children, even down to the Pineapple upside down pudding. It's their best. Well done.
