He was getting impatient, who could blame him.
It took me much longer than normal,to get ready today.
I ran to the car,and we got going.
We had been invited to a friend's church for their annual Thanksgiving service. We were one hour late by the time we got to the church.
The place was jam-packed ,parking was almost impossible, but finally we got a spot.
Being as late as we were,we tried to sneak into the church through the side doors, when suddenly two smiling faces met us at the door.
"welcome,welcome,please come this way".
We were taken to the main auditorium of the church, and given seats right in front.
As we sat down, more smiling faces appeared be for us.
"Are you okay? here, have our thanksgiving programme."and handed us little white booklets.
The place was full of smiling ,laughing and dancing ushers. Now that was strange.
Ushers didn't smile, they were like the church's own little secret service unit.
No nonsense people, who told you what to do , and where to go without as much as a smile on their faces.
"there you are"our friend Paul had spotted us.
yet another smiling face.
"God bless you" he continued"glad you could make it"Paul was an usher, and he had four other persons with him.
"please meet my family" more smiling faces.
I looked around the church, everyone had a smile on their face.what a jolly bunch,I thought to myself.
My husband leaned over and whispered in my ears "I haven't seem such jolly good fellows"
"you took the words right out of my mouth" I told him.
Just then the minister made an announcement
"our special guest of honour will at this point say a few words of thanks, before we hear the sermon
Reverend Tony Mark"
A tall and lean man, about fifty years, walked up to the pulpit, and cleared his throat before he spoke.
"Thank you all for having me.It indeed has been a
wonderful experience. This is a period of thanks-
giving, and we should always give thanks to God
for everything.you know I have been to alot of churches, and I must say I haven't seen such jolly good fellows ,as I have seen in this church..."
Myself and my husband suddenly looked at each other and covered our mouths with our hands.
That was the only thing that prevented us from laughing out loud.
