They were all gone. He was there alone.
“God, what happened?” His quivering shout shot the sanctuary, bouncing off the stained glass windows and echoing up the stairwell to the choir loft. Furiously, he turned in hot confusion and faced the wooden cross standing on the altar.
“They got it!” He threw his arms up in hopeless despair. “They got it - and I am left behind.”
Overwhelmingly intrigued, my eyes locked on the film, my own brow knit in deep thought about the scene playing before us – family movie night.
For sure there will be the remainder when the time comes – I suppose I had never really thought about it though, and was baffled at the fact that the Rapture found this particular fictional preacher left behind.
I started thinking about my own life, my own heart – so much the world can’t see, only God sees; so much the world judges on the outside, whether good or bad, and still, only He knows.
“God, please forgive my sins…” Tears streaming down his face, the broken man humbly kneeled before the Throne of Grace. “Can You give me a second chance?”
