FELLOWSHIP AMONG THE BRETHREN
Many scriptures remind us that we should have fellowship one with another and in one accord. 1 John 1:3 (NKJV) “that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the FATHER, and HIS SON, JESUS CHRIST.”
When we have fellowship one with another, we acknowledge our love for The FATHER and SON. We gather in HIS name, and HE is there. When we are bound with the Holy Spirit, and cords of love, we are one as CHRIST and The FATHER are ONE. We also grow stronger together than alone.
Using this example, we see the strength of our fellowship in JESUS.
One burning charcoal brisket will soon burn out. Put many together in a pile, they will ignite quicker, and burn hotter and longer than that one coal does alone.
During a crisis, we find our fellowship with other Believers gives us strength to carry on because we find encouragement from our fellow worker. In 1 Corinthians 1:9-10(NKJV) gives us the encouragement to have fellowship, joined together in the same mind and judgment.
Having fellowship with unbelievers and darkness should not jeopardize our fellowship and being of one mind.
Paul instructs us about having fellowship with those unequally yoked and unbelievers. Fellowship of righteousness doesn’t have fellowship with unbelievers and darkness. We are not to be partakers of them, as you can’t eat from the table of the LORD and the table of demons.
This means we are not having communion with the LORD’S blood, and partaking of the sins of this world. Can we reach through a steel bar fence by turning our hand sideways? Yes, but we are unable to grab an object and clutch it while trying to retrieve it back through the same closure. This is the same as trying to bring unrighteousness into fellowship with Believers.
Nevertheless, we should be strong enough in order to reach the unsaved to shed the Light on them, causing them to receive this LIGHT, JESUS. If we do not reach out for the unbelievers, our fellowship does grow daily as many are saved. Walk in the LIGHT that others may see CHRIST in you.
Refusing to eat from the demon’s table, we are not partaking of the ungodly council. We in fellowship with JESUS, draw from HIS Word and the HOLY SPIRIT feeding manna to the ones walking in darkness retrieving them from the pit.
Therefore be followers of GOD dear children, and walk in love, as CHRIST also has loved us and given HIMSELF for us, an offering and a sacrifice to GOD for a sweet-smelling aroma. Ephesians 5:1-2 (NKJV)
In the fellowship among Believers, we have love toward one another and watch out for one another. Paul exhorts humility in Philippians 1:3-4(NKJV)
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind, let each esteem others better than himself. Let each look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Knowing by these scriptures, we are not to have fellowship with darkness and sons of disobedience. We gather together in one mind as the mind of CHRIST.
Understanding these same scriptures, we of the fellowship with the HOLY SPIRIT, receive strength, love and unity of the mind, and boldness for others and ourselves.
We hold fast the confession of faith by the following scripture.
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of JESUS, Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us holdfast the confessions of our hope with our wavering, for HE who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day appearing. Hebrews 1:19-24 (NKJV)
The Believers’ fellowship loves HIS appearing and work together until HE returns for us.
