"You don't know what you're doing, and you'll never figure it out," the deceptive influencer continued. "I have the mind of Christ," I countered, lifting my gaze.
"You're weak," it insisted. Taking up my position I persisted, "My strength comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth."
"You're too old." The voice had weakened. "I am a new creation in Christ!" I asserted.
"But..." the voice attempted to remind me of failures and dysfunctional memories, held in those spiritual rooms that I wasn't prepared to enter today. Someday me and God will go through those rooms, when Grace calls.
Still a bit tattered and battle weary I arose, shook off the filth of the accusations and boldly proclaimed, "Shut up devil. You have no place here. I have not been given a spirit of fear, but of power love and a sound mind. My victory is in Jesus Christ. Who, need I remind you, defeated death, rose from the grave AND crushed your head?
Gathering momentum, I continued declaring, "I am clothed with the complete armor of God and it fits quite nicely, thank you very much."
"I am wearing the glorious helmet of salvation. A perfect fit for this treasured daughter of the King."
"My heart is protected by His stunning bejeweled breastplate of righteousness."
"The belt of Truth is fastened firmly around my waist and my feet are shod with the gospel of peace."
"In my left hand is the shield of faith. Held high in my right hand, firmly held by my heavenly Father, is the sword of the Spirit, His living and active Word, sharper than any two-edged sword."
God's perfect love casts out fear.
"You're a lonely old spinster!" one last snarky attempt.
Our enemy is a liar.
Fully engaged unashamedly armed with His Truth, I strike a victorious parting blow, "I'm a holy redeemed saint. I was bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ and my Papa rejoices, delights and dances over me!"
