I think this could possibly make a good skit with a bit of revamping. Please let me know your ideas.
Another thought I've tossed around is possibly picking part of the poem for a chorus and writing a Christmas song based on this piece. Your ideas are welcome and appreciated!
As I stare into this little one’s eyes, he wraps his tiny hand around my finger.
So much joy floods my heart, but underneath the sadness lingers.
I don’t know why God picked me to be the mother of such a special baby
No where in all the earth will there ever be another more important than he.
I don’t know why God chose me as the one
to hold in my arms His only son.
I pray the Lord will make my heart strong
so I can let him go when his time comes.
These tears which stream down my cheeks are so bittersweet.
I hold in my hands his precious little feet.
I think of all the places they will go,
and looking into his eyes I wonder if he knows…
Does he know the road that he must walk down?
Does he know that through his blood life for the entire world will be found?
Oh, I wish there was an easier way
for the sins of mankind to be paid!
I look upon his perfect face;
he’s so small, yet from him radiates God’s amazing grace.
I wonder; in his little heart dose he know why he’s here?
Does his Father speak to him and make His plans perfectly clear?
I’m amazed by this little one, so precious and new.
In my arms I hold the Son of God, so holy and true!
There’s knowledge beyond his earthly days in his eyes.
In him I see wisdom that doesn’t fit his small size.
So many emotions flood through my heart.
I feel such joy for the hope this child brings,
yet, I feel as though my soul is being torn apart.
For this baby I feel a love stronger than I’ve ever known!
I want to protect him from all the pain his future holds.
Yet, I won’t stand in the way of God’s will.
I pray God gives me the strength to raise this child
And then stand aside and let his destiny be fulfilled.
I hold in my arms the key to heaven for all of us.
In my arms I hold the depth of God’s endless mercy and love.
I hold in my arms this precious little one.
In my arms I hold God’s only Son.
He’s God’s greatest gift, given for the souls of men.
Through him all suffering and death will come to an end.
He’s been sent to light the path to truth.
He will lay down his life for me and for you.
