I can’t wait until I fall in love for the very first time! To meet the man created for me, filled with a vision for expanding God’s Kingdom. A man who yearns for Christ, and is following Him whole-heartedly. A man who desires to be the head of his home, who will tell me to be the keeper of our home, caring for our children, making the home pleasant, and filling it with wonderful odors from the kitchen.
I can’t wait until I hold my very first bundle of joy, and the bundles which may come after it! To experiencing the joy of natural childbirth. I can’t wait to lift the baby to my breast and nurse him. And then hand him to his daddy for the very first time. To watch the marvelous bond between father and child, and smile as I thank the Lord for this beautiful blessing.
I can’t wait to watch my little flock grow! To view each new baby as a gift from God. I can’t wait to lead my little ones to the Lord. We’ll run and dance and play together. My darling tots will get flour on their noses as they help me bake bread. They’ll smell the wonderful fragrance of home-cooked meals. They’ll get dirt in their finger nails as their grubby little hands learn to plant and cultivate. We’ll read and laugh together. And when daddy comes home from work, they’ll run with shouts of joy to him.
I can’t wait watch my little ones grow up! We’ll have long conversations as they enter young adulthood. We’ll talk, and I’ll lovingly guide them as they search the Scriptures and grow their own wings. And then we’ll have to let them fly. We will have done all we could do, now they’ll be on their own- but I’ll always be there to answer questions, to tell them I’m praying.
I can’t wait to watch my children fall in love! I’ll watch them mature, and stand back as God takes control, bringing Godly mates into their lives, and leading, shaping and guiding my children. Their weddings will be filled with joy, a testimony of faithfulness to their spouse and God.
I can’t wait until my hair is filled with gray! It will be my crown of glory. Oh no, I won’t try coloring it, and hiding my age. I want the wrinkles and gray to be abundant! I want to be an old woman who loves where she is in life, and hold no regrets about her past. I want to cherish each moment with my husband and children, and wear my crown of glory.
I can’t wait till I hold my first beautiful grandbaby, and feel their fingers wrapped around mine! Maybe a beautiful girl, wreathed in smiles, or a handsome bouncing boy, full of energy and strength. I can’t wait to watch their mother labor through childbirth, and experience the joy of holding her very first wee one. I’m looking forward to the day when I get to see her face- tired, yes, but filled with joy and triumph. I’ll get to watch as she takes instantly to her enraptured daddy. I’ll get to observe her happily suckling at her mother’s breast. And then, I’ll rock and hold and love on my beautiful grandbaby.
I can’t wait until my grandchildren all come to my home! We’ll play “ring round the roses” until we’re all so dizzy we can hardly stand. And then we’ll find treats in my kitchen. Afterward, we’ll settle down with books, and then go for walks. We’ll discuss their childish dreams, and observe the fragrant flowers. We’ll bring some home to put in a vase for mommy. They’ll tell me in their young way of the things their parents are teaching them about God. They’ll have jolly good romps with their grandpa, and laugh as he tells them funny stories.
I can’t wait till they grow a little older! Then I shall tell them stories from when I was a little girl, and when their parents and aunts and uncles were growing up. As they continue to grow, I’ll tell how I fell in love, and charge them to keep their hearts with all diligence. We’ll have long talks as we ramble through the woods or down the road, or curl up with a blanket and cup of tea.
Then their mother and I will look at each other over the bouncing heads and ask where the time flew. We’ll say the first few years of many sleepless nights were well worth it. We’ll have heart-to-heart talks as their children face the same things they once did, and I did, many years ago.
Oh Lord, let me be a mommy, and then a grandmother, and a great grandmother. Let me grow old, and always have children around me! Let my seed multiply and fill the earth! But for right now, let me be a joyful sister and content daughter! Let me never see the work- as a sister, mother, or grandmother- weary or toilsome. Let me keep my focus on You and eternity. Let me never forget to live each day to its fullest, and enjoy every moment of it. And Father, let me always remember the blessing of raising maidens and warriors for God!
