The route home from
My sister’s house
Is long and winding…
I drive around the curves and over
The hills heading to town,
Heading back home.
Today the horizon is
Split into light and dark,
With the sky predicting both sunshine and rain.
Each time I turn the corner a new
Scene breaks in front of me
With a right turn, sunshine - with a left curve, rain clouds.
It all reminded me of
Life – it’s twists and turns,
Its peaks and its valleys.
One moment life is a swirling dance and
The next it is a painful crawl
Towards uncertainty and bleakness.
Where is faith in all of this
Change, in all of this emotion…
Faith to hold on in peace for the sun?
Lord, may I choose to trust that
You are with me in the storm
And ahead of me with the sunshine.
Help me Lord to not fix my
Eyes on the gloom but on Jesus
The creator of both the sun and the rain.
