As I get older, I think more about Heaven. What will it be like? Seeing Jesus and family that have already gone ahead is exhilarating. But my thoughts don’t stop there. I envision that I will have a home with gardens to attend. I can imagine sipping tea with my friends and women I have met in the Bible. And I yearn to have pets, perhaps a lion or tiger.
While many people agree with some of my speculations, they question the concept of animals in Heaven. So I recently picked up my Bible and began searching. I found that one of the first things God did after breathing life into Adam was to put him in charge of the animals. Animals have enabled man to work the land, to have transportation, provided protection, and they have been loyal friends. There seems to be a special relationship between man and animals.
I also base my belief on Isaiah 11:6. That passage proclaims that in the Messianic kingdom “The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them.” And Revelation describes white horses coming from Heaven.
I am convinced that animals will be part of Heaven. Speculate with me. Give some thought to what you think Heaven will be like.
If you are not sure Heaven is your future home, you can know for certain right now. Romans 10:9 promises that “if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Heaven will be your eternal home.
