God’s Eternal Love for Humanity
(I John 4:9: In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because God sent His only begotten Son into the world that we might live through Him.)
In winter’s grip I ride on an earthly chariot escorted by fluttering robins bobbing and weaving in the frigid breeze.
Robins, assure us that spring travels on rippling currents of air, and soon will make its way to earth awakening the daffodils and paper whites from their hibernation. The flowers will infuse the warmer air with fragrances so sweet they could only come from heaven.
The stage is now set for one of God’s miracles we take for granted; the changing of the seasons, seasons He set in motion thousands of years ago. The moon still weaves its mysteries, the sun keeps frozen death at bay and the ebb and flow of vast oceans are resisted by terra firma . . . all according to God’s master plan.
Such intricate routines of our universe go un-noticed, unappreciated--except by the one who breathed life into a vessel of clay. One who with His tongue and voice created the universe, we so slightly know.
Why, because He loves His creation. Not only the high peaks or low valleys but the creature He designed in His image . . . in Their image. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, the three in one, the Trinity, the God Head who purposely allowed His creatures to have a will of their own.
Although He knew how drastically the creature (filled with His Holy breath) would fail. Our failure didn’t happen without His knowing. But without our independent wills, He would have merely had clones of Himself, but there would be no capacity for loving relationships.
We are temples of the Holy Spirit. In other words, God’s dwelling place is within His creatures. Oh but you mutter, how can a Holy God reside in an unclean temple? How indeed except a sacrifice so brutal, so incredibly unselfish and so masterfully complete, no animal would ever again be slain for the remission of sins.
Jesus on the cross cleansed from sin every person that has been or ever will be born. There is no
more need for sacrifice. God’s love is available to every living human being without need of a credit score or a background check or a medical exam. We all qualify.
Our temples are God shaped places inside of us that we go through life thinking we could never make clean enough for Him. Dear ones, God cleansed your temple on Calvary. Just ask Him to come in and fill your emptiness. He has made all things new. Once we realize His love is a dead-end location, our lives become full of joy unending. Heaven has no exit door.
(II Timothy 1-9: Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.)
Because we know ourselves so well, we believe our secrets are so heinous we attempt to hide them. Hide them from whom? Certainly not from God. He knew YOU before the foundations of the world and He loved you. Let God judge you and let Him judge others.
Look at the world around you and ask why would God create such beauty? Look at your family and ask why have I been allowed to know such love? If God’s desire is to punish us why does He allow us to produce offspring who can bring more sin into the world? God’s logic boggles the human mind.
God’s desire is for His children to know His boundless and unconditional love. Attempting to earn God’s love is a dead-end. Activities, even good ones can reduce our intimate time with our Heavenly Father. His love is not found in works.
There is only one way to God and that is through His Son, Jesus. Jesus is the one-way entrance into God’s heart which is our eternal destination.
