What remnant are we,
Encased in materialism
And supernova dreams of
Success and glory,
And all those things moths and rust do corrupt.
Like a pearl
Entombed in the oyster,
Who, created for glory,
is hidden,
Our light wanes
In the dark sepulcher of prosperity.
Mouth opened wide,
We are filled,
But unsatisfied.
Consuming all that’s vanity,
Now too full for "bread of life" or "living water."
Let us starve
And thirst,
Embracing poverty of soul
Above opulence of life,
Till, emaciated enough,
We finally savor Words of Life.
