BUT, don't be gentle, be fair and honest.
I used to write and edit for 30+ years prior to the cancer, so I'm jumping back in the ring. Thanks.
Was I supposed to include the title here?
Tiffany and Zachary were out with their mom and dad for an evening picnic. When GODs Hand came down from Heaven and touched two stars. The two stars became a brilliant white – out shinning all the others. Only the two children could see HIS Hand though!
The children, at seven and nine, were so excited and tried hard to explain to their parents what they had just seen. While their mom and dad saw the two brighter stars, they had a hard time believing “the Hand of GOD.”
That night Tiffany and Zachary, each dreamed about the stars and seeing the FATHERs Hand coming from Heaven. When they woke up Saturday morn, they each begged mom and dad, “Please take us to church Sunday morn! Please! Please!”
Now, Tiffany and Zachary had never been to church, Sunday school, or even vacation Bible school before. But the FATHER had set it in their hearts, they needed to go to church with mom and dad. Their parents were confused and asked, “Why?”, “What brought this on?”
Tiffany and Zachary tried to explain their dreams – but, being only seven and nine, it just confused their mom and dad all the more.
“Can we go?”
“Will you come with us?”
Dad remembered going to Sunday school and church with his mom when he was younger. His mom took him to youth groups, and he went on youth trips. Those were fun times, he even went on a mission trip to Mexico! He remembered being baptized when he was eight years old. Somehow he just lost interest.
Mom and dad said, “We have to talk about it.”
Tiffany and Zachary just said, “Okay”, instead of arguing. Which has been normal for them. Then they went to play … with each other!
Their parents were stunned. Where were their children? What happened to them? Throughout the day, mom and dad would check on their children. Everything was peaceful and nothing more was said about church in the morn.
At dinner, Zachary asked if they could bless the food, and if he could say it.
Dad almost choked on his own words, with a “HUMMMMPH!” Mom was smiling, but quiet. Her blue eyes sparkling behind her bright red bangs. “Sure, son.” Dad said, “Say what you want.”
Zachary bowed his head. Across the table, Tiffany bowing hers, her long red curls falling over her shoulders. Her brother began, “GOD, thanks for this good food, YOUR bright stars, mom and dad, and Tiffany. And please let them take us to church in the morn. Amen.”
“Amen.” Tiffany said.
Surprising the children, mom and dad said “Amen”, too.
Tiffany and Zachary just smiled to themselves.
After dinner, the children asked to be excused. Which only amused their parents. Dad asked mom, “What's going on with them? All day they've just played together – nicely – inside.”
Mom gently reminded him, “They want to go to church in the morn. What are we going to do?” Sitting at the table and talking, for hours, or so it seemed to the children. Not knowing their children were listening at the door, smiling, with fingers crossed.
Then Tiffany and Zachary went to pick-up all their toys … smiling all the time. And doing it without being told to! They really wanted to go to church in the morn.
Zachary went to the living room, where mom and dad were now sitting and talking. He said, “We've picked up all our toys and want to get baths for church in the morn. Do you know where we can go yet?” Tiffany came in, smiling, (she does that a lot), not saying a word, just twirling her long curls.
Mom and dad smiled at each other. She asked him, “Whose going to get the phone book?”
Tiffany said, “I'll get it!”
The next morn the family was dressed and ready for church. Dad asked, “Really son? Last chance to stay home.”
Zachary responded, “Really sure dad. C'mon, let's go!”
And that's the story of how this sweet family got into church, hearts were changed, and souls were saved.
Dad rededicated his life to JESUS and became the Godly husband and parent he was meant to be.
Just because two little children recognized the awesome Hand of The FATHER in the sky – they were obedient to HIS calling, and the Holy Spirit was involved in the hearts of Tiffany and Zachary.
What a miracle!
