GOD USES BROKEN PEOPLE
“ Can God use me “some ask? “ We have made so many mistakes”. Our mistakes do not forbear God using us. A review of the Bible reveals this truth. Moses killed a man. Rehab was a prostitute and Ruth was from Moab. God uses many different people and situations to convey his message.
God was the mastermind behind the bible. Within the bible are described the faults and weaknesses of many who God used. The bible does not attempt to hide weaknesses. Rather it shows how God used those “lemons” and turned them into lemonade. Would a mere man have done this? I doubt it.
When a national figure, celebrity or government figure slips and falls, many pounce upon them with the intent of driving them further down the road of despair and destruction rather than helping them to arise again but God does not do this. He will use them if they allow.
Some believers attempt to send the message or pretend that their lives did not exist before they became renewed. Why not share the struggles that occurred along the way? Mistakes made and poor choices revealed would send a message that God gave the individual another chance. This information would provide encouragement to some who are struggling along.
Moses in a rash moment killed a man. He acted without thinking about the consequences of his actions. Although Moses demonstrated a weakness, God used him in his service. Who knows? Maybe the years spend living with his father- in- law helped him to learn to control his impulses. God used Moses to lead the people from Egypt into the promise land.
If God forgave Moses and gave him another chance, why can’t we forgive and allow those who have demonstrated weaknesses another opportunity to succeed?
Why is it often difficult to forgive individual who made mistakes and poor decisions? Let’s aide them in their attempt to reconcile prior failures with new opportunities. Rather than reject them we must encourage them. Let’s give them a second chance. I would prefer that God be my judge rather than some men. Unlike some people, God would be merciful. He would forgive me and use me in His service. While God forgives, some Christians refuse to forgive. They forget that God forgave them and gave them another opportunity. Why not give others another opportunity? Remember God uses broken people.
