Encouragement
Ezra 5v 15 “And rebuild the House of God on its site.”
10 Things to note about the exercise
1. REBUILD THE ALTAR. The altar speaks of prayer and intercession. You need to burn offerings on it. Any Church or Christian that need to restore his or her relationship with God has to rebuild the ministry of prayer and intercession. My definition of prayer is this, “Prayer is the hand that moves the Hand that moves the universe.” Prayer causes God to respond. In Revelations 8v5 we read about the effects of prayer where God responded with lightning, rumblings and thunder.
2. LAY THE FOUNDATION OF THE TEMPLE. Scripture tells us that Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Christian faith. The apostles are mentioned as the foundation of the Church. Two instances in scripture point us to this fact. In Ephesians 2v20 Paul writes, “Built on the foundations of the apostles and prophets with Christ Himself as the Chief Cornerstone.” Matthew 16v 18 says, “And I tell you that you are Peter and on this rock I will build My Church and the gates of hell will not prove stronger than it. To see the truth of this scripture we need to study the life of Peter after the day of Pentecost and see the impact of the apostolic ministry.
3. PRAISE AND GIVE THANKS. The Jews were commanded to weep and be joyful, in other words, they were told to rebuild the praise and worship ministry. We are told in scripture that God inhabits the praises of His people. Worship has a tendency of attracting the Presence of God. As the Church acts on this area we recognize that god’s Presence will abide and unleash an atmosphere for miracles and great moves of the Holy Spirit.
4. EXPECT OPPOSITION AND REBUKE IT. Any genuine move to rebuild the Church of Jesus Christ will face opposition because once the House stands false worship will cease. Isaiah 54v17 tells us that we will refute every tongue that opposes us. Opposition will only delay but not prevent the work from being completed. You need to tell your enemy that they have no part in the work.
5. LET THE VOICE OF THE PROPHET ARISE. There is need to allow God to speak. Amos 3v7 tells us that God will not do anything without first revealing His secrets unto His servants the prophets. We have over the ages come to understand that the prophet gives direction for the Church. He or she determines the move in which the Church will go by exhorting, comforting, edifying, judging and rebuking the Church. We know that the prophet hears from God and will provide the clear path to walk. It is in these days that God is restoring the prophetic office to the Body of Christ.
6. EXPECT GOD’S WORD TO BE PROVEN BY TESTING. Jeremiah 1v12 tells us that God is watching over His word to prove it. Again we read in Psalm 19v 7-11 tells us that the word of God is true and He will prove it. When God speaks a word to our lives there will be the season of testing to prove the truth of the word. We read in scripture that heaven and earth will pass away but the word of God will firm remain.
7. EXPECT THE ROYAL TREASURY TO FOOT THE BILLS. In this instance we read that the government of King Cyrus financed the rebuilding project. We are also enlightened to the fact that God will give provision for the vision. 2 Corinthians 9v8 tells us, “And God is able to make all grace to abound to you, so that in all things at all times having all you need, you will abound in every good work. Philippians 4v19 adds an even more impressive detail, “And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.”
8. EXPECT THE “NO INTERFERENCE” SIGN TO GO UP. When the work of God is in full motion, there is need to tell the devil not to interfere. The reason is simple; the work has nothing to do with the kingdom of darkness. We need to expect to hear the command that no interference is wanted.
9. EXPECT A TURNAROUND. When the Temple is rebuilt in the right place there will be a change of fortunes that will come. Romans 8v28 tells us that God will work out all things for good. Genesis 50v20 tells us, “You intended to harm me but God intended it for good to accomplish what is being done, the saving of many lives.”
10. EXPECT PROSPERITY IN PREACHING AND PROPHECY TO CONTINUE. Acts 8v4 tells us that the disciples who were persecuted by Saul were scattered all over the inhabited world, and they preached the word wherever they went. In chapter 9v33 we read, “Then the Church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened and encouraged by the Holy Sprit. It grew in numbers, living in the fear of the Lord.”
AFTER THE REBUILDING
1. Appoint entrusted teachers and doers of the word. 2 Timothy 2v2 concurs, “Entrust to reliable men who shall be qualified to teach others.”
2. Except royal treasury backup
3. No duty or tax will be expected of the workers
4. Appoint leaders to administer justice
5. Research and teach about God and His word
6. Obey the Law or face the consequences
7. Gather the leading men/leaders who shall go to Israel
8. Fast and pray
9. Consecrate yourself to God
10. Be accountable
11. Don’t intermarry, that is, don’t mix royal blood/the holy race with an unholy one. 2 Corinthians 6v14 tells us not to be equally yoked with unbelievers
12. Repent whole heartedly
It may take time and a change of leaders but God’s word will stand. God’s House must be rebuilt. Take a look at the condition of your House and act like you’re serious about it.
