The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, but the speech of the upright rescues them. (Proverbs 12:6)

One of the mysteries of Proverbs is that it reveals that words have the power to form the very world in which we live. Here "wicked words" are said to lie in wait for blood. These wicked words are waiting to do damage, even death. Uttering such words is to set a trap for yourself. Likewise, the words of the upright or righteous have power to rescue them. Righteous speech has power for good. What you say is what you get. That is a truth revealed in Proverbs. If you really believe this, then you will be careful about your words. Careless words are dangerous..
