"The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart." (Proverbs 17:03)
The heat of the fire purifies gold and silver. The process is undertaken because impurities in the gold and silver cause them to have less value, and to be more difficult to be molded into the objects they were meant to be. Likewise, in our own lives the faults that are revealed in the tests we face diminish our ability to be molded into what we were meant to be. That's why we need to embrace the discipline of the LORD, and be purified by the tests we face. Be made pure!
