Short Stories
As I awake in the morning, I feel my chest rise and fall with each breath I take. Opening my eyes, I can see the sun's rays trying to come through the curtains. As I stand, the soft carpet cushions my every step toward the window. Pulling back the curtain, I can now feel the warmth of the sun on my skin. I hear the birds chirping as they tend to their daily tasks. They continue on with no acknowledgement of me. Back and forth they fly gathering and bringing food to their young who are restless in the nest. Too young to fly, they must rely on the parents to bring them nourishment. As mother bird approaches, the little heads start to bobble as they squawk for a morsel of food. Just below the bees are busy buzzing from one flower to the next in search of nectar. The butterflies are right along side, almost working in harmony with the bees. Two completely different species; one so delicate and gentle and the other willing to strike an enemy that gets too close. Yet there is no threat among the two living things. Without them, the beautiful flowers would need to rely on other means for pollination. As the gentle breeze moves the blades of grass ever so slightly, I catch the faintest hint of the sweet smelling flowers. What a wonderful day. God has given me the lungs to breathe with and all the senses I have to live these wonderful feelings. Better than that, God has given me the gift of keen sight. Beyond "eye" sight, He has given me the ability to "see" that He is responsible for all these wonderful things. He did not just give them to me. He has given them to everyone to enjoy. Just stop for a moment and feel it; absorb it and really live it. Everything is there for the taking; the hardest part is realizing it is there.
