Each day I arise and take the steps I know must be done.
I smile and care, listen and talk, but slowly I become less and less.
Inside I mourn, I wail, I cry, I believe the lie that I cannot be more.
Slowly I sink, desperately I think of ways in which I can defy the lie and adventure to more.
I seek answers in the strands of chaos, confused and tangled balls of oblivious endlessness.
I attempt to be strong, to balance the balls, to live life more, to explore all.
But deep inside the darkness spreads and emptiness claims the endless threads.
Finally I concede, finally I turn, finally I find…
That in my brokenness I am made strong, in my emptiness full, in my melancholy joy-filled.
As I have died I have been reborn, bit by bit scars once torn now become a thorn no more.
Where once I knew I was nothing I have been filled by He who is everything.
In my struggles I been reformed; in my belief I have been transformed.
This world is not easy, this world is not home; but in it we sink our roots and drink the bitter sap of tortured mind traps.
We set our standards by those things that with time fade and crumble, and wonder why our lives do the same.
We allow ourselves to be assimilated into the darkness, pressed into the stickiness of our sins, absorbed into the twisted ‘wisdom’ of a fallen kingdom and lose our ways in the alleys of our pleasure.
We bury our emotions and deaden our perceptions; we learn the art of ignoring the truth and make believe on a stage of our own design.
We fall into pits and sit there and cry, and raise our children to never fly.
We perfect the art of uprooting the seeds and tossing them to the wind, as our hearts sicken with deferred hopes.
We devalue that which is priceless so that we might ‘thrive’, and demolish that which reminds us we’re not home yet.
The costumes of our stage are dirty rags under which the nobility of our birth is rotted away.
We create make-believe heroes and believe in the extremes, desperately trying not to catch a glimpse of the purity of the light of the Prince.
But He is persistent; He knows our worth and sees our pain.
All day, everyday, He sends out His word; all day, everyday, He seeks to be heard.
His invitation is open to all,
“Come down from your stage, come into the light, and live not in the fiction but dance in the right.
I am the way, the truth and the life, I am real, not shadow or myth.
I hide nothing and offer you all.
Throw off your rags, your self-made masks and learn to stand tall and show off your light.
I made you to sing, I made you to dance, and I made you to be so very much more.
You are beautiful and bright, like morning’s first light.
I love you, and always have.
Stop acting and start living right”.
