Encouragement
Christmas is fast approaching!
This is a season of ironies. Some people are joyous, while others plunge into the abyss of depression. This article is aimed at encouraging those who are sad to look within and without at all the blessings God has bestowed upon them, over the past year.
People tend to compare their economic and social status with that of the previous year. Even if they are not where they want to be, they still have life. Life is an invaluable gift. "As long as there is life, there is hope" was one of my grandfather's favorite sayings. A dead person has no more hope.
We also know that there are always greater and lesser persons than ourselves; so in whatever state we find ourselves, we should be content. Material goods and possessions should not determine their level of contentment. They should also be grateful to be alive to experience this season.
To those who feel lonely; remember that God is always there with us. You are never alone! You cannot go anywhere to escape from His love and consequent blessings. You should consider all the circumstances of His birth. His mother decided to say yes to the Holy Spirit and her life seemed to be hurtling out of control. She trusted in the God of her salvation and she is now the most revered mothers that ever lived.
At the time of his birth, she must have felt anxious, sad and lonely but He died as the greatest leader that the world has ever seen and will ever see.
If you are feeling forsaken, you need to think about others who might be in a similar position. I have found that volunteering at shelters and old folks homes has brought a lot of joy.
Thinking of and about others causes us to realize how blessed we are and allows us to be happy.
No devil in hell will cause me to be depressed because of what God has done for and in my life. I just have to reflect on His grace, mercy and where he
has brought me from and praise and worship erupt from my soul. I am eternally grateful and you should be too.
The menu on Christmas day is of little importance if you have love in your heart and appreciation and gratitude towards God in your soul.
So as this time of joy approaches, remember that the joy of the Lord is your strength. Read and meditate on the word, volunteer and spread the love that God brought at Christmas.
