CALLED TO PRAY

I’ve heard that an intercessors worst enemy is the Spirit of Distraction, I totally agree with that. I also believe that an intercessors worst enemy is the Spirit of Offense. Because if the Enemy cannot get us distracted then he will try to get us offended. The enemy knows our weaknesses and what spots to keep hitting us in. Nine times out of ten if we get offended with a Sister or Brother we will not be too inclined to pray and intercede for them. Or we might pray for them but it will not be out of a sincere heart. God has called all of his children to pray but the intercessors have an assignment to pray. If no one else prays the intercessors must pray. Intercessors have to truly guard their hearts for out of the heart flow the springs of life.

Intercessors must start looking at the big picture when they feel the spirit of offense trying to gain ground. The big picture is we are called to pray and intercede for our sisters and brothers. The big picture is that our prayers have power to get people delivered and set free. The big picture is that it is not about us and how we feel but how God feels and how God sees things. Jonah did not want to minister to a certain group of people he tried to do everything to avoid ministering to these people. But God said for him to minister to them and so Jonah had to get to know a certain whale and then he came to his senses. Sometimes people will rub us the wrong way or offend us right out and that is when we really have to take a step back and say, “Ok I see the devil all in this, this is to stop me from doing what God has called me to do”. Sometimes we look at people like Jonah did and we feel like “Don’t save them Lord! Don’t help them Lord! Let them perish!” But that is not the right attitude to have towards anyone.

What if someone had went to God when you were being molded and shaped and they said to God “don’t save him God, don’t help him God, he’s not worth it God”. God has a plan for peoples lives and it’s not our business to know what God’s plan is it’s our job to do what God has called us to do regarding that person. The man that prayed for the scales to fall off of Sauls eyes wasn’t too keen about doing it, he even told God. “This is the Man that has been persecuting Christians and killing your people!”. But what did God tell him “I have work for this man to do, I will show him how much he must suffer”. We can go to God with all kinds of reasons why we feel a person doesn’t deserve this or that. But in the end God will have his way! God loves all of his children and our prejudices towards them mean nothing to God. God has shown us mercy over and over again so who are we to become judge and jury over another man?

A lot of times the person the enemy tries to get us to be offended with is the person that needs our prayers the most and the devil knows that. Most times our blessings are locked up in the lives of those that the enemy tries to cause us to be enemies with. Intercessors have to put aside their personal feelings in some cases and do what God has called them to do. Pray for who God has told them to pray for and do it out of a sincere heart, not an evil, jealous heart.

God weighs the motives of Men no matter what level they are on in the church. We must be obedient to God and put aside how we feel and what we think. We are men and God is God. God’s thoughts will always be higher than our thoughts. Sometimes God uses us as sandpaper for each other but in the end God will still get the Glory.
