You might not have left any stocks
But that’s okay by me
You taught me to take stock in myself
So I’d truly like what I would see.

There isn’t any vast areas of land
Or even some great estate
But through the years you’ve shown me
Whatever I have I should truly appreciate

There will be no great libraries
That will bear the family name
But you’ve instilled a pride in me
To never bring that name any shame.

Some parents leave only money
For their kids to remember them by
But too quickly that money will take wings
And soon the memories too will fly.

But you’ve left a legacy of love
That I’ll cherish my whole life through
No matter how much of it was spent
I’ll always remember how it just grew.

Of all the treasures you’ve left me
There one jewel that rises above
And that’s the life you put before me
A shining example of God’s great love.
