This poem was written for a dear friend of mine. A soldier for Christ all through out our prison stay. If there was anyone I thought would make it, it was her. Within two weeks of her release she was caught back up in the world of drugs. It is my prayer that she will return as the prodigal son to ask God's forgiveness and once again receive His grace and blessings.


A Soldier Lost

Christ lost a soldier today
Another warrior in the war against sin.
The instant she took her eyes off the cross
Her mortal body just gave in.

Only a few of us noticed
But I know it broke God’s heart.
He had such amazing plans for her
Right from the very start.

Her downfall wasn’t the drugs
But feeling she could handle them alone.
Just one more hit for old time sake
Then to the Father she would atone.

That one time was all it took
Satan got his foot in the door.
Now for the joy she once found in God
She looks to Him no more.

But God will always be there
No matter where she might trod.
For there is always forgiveness waiting
Even for those that break the heart of God.
