ANGEL ELITE CORPS A Startling Surprise Conclusion
CAST OF CHARACTERS:
WRATH: Don’t say that—
VOID: But it’s true. How can I be “Fallen” if what I’m doing is not for myself but for you?
WRATH: Don’t you ever say you went to the Other Side for my sake—
VOID: You want me to hide the truth?
WRATH: It’s not the truth!
VOID: You’re only denying what you know is true, Wrath. And when you wake up and acknowledge it, you’ll understand—
PREACH: I canna allow ye to continue in this twisted path o’ yers.
CORRUPTOR: Ah, Guardian, you think you can put everything to right by destroying me?
PREACH: What’s done is done, an’ nothing can put that arights. You ha’ destroyed your last piece o’ Eternity.
(SFX: Drawn sword)
CORRURPTOR: Poetic. But hardly to the point. You still don’t understand what this is all about, do you, Guardian? Smoke and mirrors, Guardian. Smoke…and…
WRATH: Once you go down that path, there’s no going back
VOID: Who’s talking about going back? We can have what we always wanted, Wrath. You and me against the world, with no boundaries and no orders to “Stand Down”. We can make the world the way we see fit—
WRATH: We don’t have the authority—
VOID: I have all the authority to do as I wish. Can you say the same? You’re dying, Wrath, I can see it in you—
WRATH: But Glory—
VOID: Void. Call me Void, Wrath. It’s who I am. And who I was.
WRATH: I can’t bring myself to…
VOID: Accept reality for what it is. Accept the possibilities for what they are. You and I can do things we were never allowed to in the Old World. (Whispered and sultry) And you and I can enjoy each other like we were never allowed to—
WRATH: (disgusted) Get behind me! I’d sooner die!
VOID: You’re already dead, Wrath. Can’t you see? Come with me and LIVE !
WRATH: What’s happened to you, Glory?
VOID: I woke up. It’s time you did, too.
PREACH: What? What are you saying, Corruptor?
CORRUPTOR: You could defeat me and win the battle, but in the end, I would win the war. And you can’t see that even with your Eyes of Discernment.
NORMAN (Narrator): I had heard and seen enough. Both these encounters were fruitless, if even real. I calculated the only thing I could do was to physically haul the both of them out of the area. Not an easy task to haul even one out by myself, but both? I needed strength that was beyond me, from a Source not my own. But I knew we were not alone in this strange vortex, and nothing put before us was beyond our reckoning when we submit to that Source.
WRATH : Are you deranged? Let go of me you whelp! HEY!
& PREACH: Hey! What’s th’ meaning-- I’m not through! HEY!
(continued etc. & under)
(SFX: Scraping and scuffling of armor)
NORMAN: I felt my muscles strain as I dragged the both of them back into the blackened veil. I realized instinctively this was no feat of physical prowess but a testing of wills, and I had to overcome their will to stay in this vortex with the will to bring them out. My sinews were screaming and at the very moment I thought both my arms would be ripped from their sockets, a blinding flash of light stabbed into my vision, and the dark veil disintegrated in an instant.
(SFX: Explosion of Light)
WRATH & PREACH: (Panting and under)
NORMAN (Narrator): The next thing I beheld was the familiar lines and textures of Mortal Town again. Same alley we were in before, but the darkness that filled it was gone.
WRATH: What—What just happened?
PREACH: I donna know. But I am of mind we are beholding to this lad for somethin’ powerful, though.
WRATH: The Noob?
PREACH: Aye. As you say. The “Noob”.
WRATH: Yo Norm. I uh, I think we better be getting back to Cap and the others. Though I’m not certain what to report.
PREACH: Aye. I’m a bit in th’ fog on that count as well.
NORMAN: I’ll fill you in on the details after I make my submission. Although you’re as likely not to believe what I have to report.
PREACH: Lead on then, laddie. And we shall make report and submission as well.
WRATH: Aye that.
NORMAN (Narrator): After I made my full report, Cap had Wrath and Preach submit to Examination and Evaluation. Something which is often routine in debriefing after intense missions, but these results were sealed even from my own access. After the entire incident, both Wrath and Preach seemed anxious and distant for a time. In what may be a related detail, Cap was visited by some unknown “Messengers” rumored to be from Prophecy Ops.
As a result, this Support and Logistics Profile Entry no. 041806. shall remain open pending further developments. My own observations and speculations upon the entire incident, beheld and heard, experienced or no must also remain suspect as well. The Deception of the Enemy shall not be perpetuated in this log, and it is beyond my own reckoning to discern whether anything experienced in the dark vortex was real or purely a fabrication with the intent of corruption. Perhaps time and further experience will bring the light of Truth into the matter.
