Can you imagine the scene in heaven
The day our precious Savior died?
Sadness and grief filled the air so deep
That all of heaven must have cried

Twelve thousand legions of angels
Over one hundred thousand strong
Raised their swords to battle
The injustice they knew was wrong.

The beloved Christ they’d watched from birth
Was being crucified by man
They never could allow this to happen
They had to make a stand.

But Christ raised His hand
And gently bid them woo
He said they’d never understand
But this was a place He had to go.

Mankind needed redemption
And no one else answered the call
The Father looked to Him
To bear the sins of all.

It was a task that wouldn’t be easy
But it fit Him like a glove
For who else but the Father
Could ever show that much love.

So the angels turned away in sorrow
Because they knew what He said was true
They just marveled at the love He had
To suffer so much for me and you.
