The airport terminal was crowded
Those bidding friends and loved ones goodbye
What was to happen in the next few moments
Was to leave everyone wondering why.

Shortly after the plane ascended
It came crashing to the ground
Shock fell over the crowd
For a time no one made a sound

Then came the crying and screaming
No one could believe their eyes
How could a tragedy like this happen?
How could it just fall from the skies?

Then the crowd noticed a pilot
Standing by with hat in hand
The questions started flowing
They just wanted to understand.

The more they asked
The angrier they became
How could he allow this to happen?
They were looking for someone to blame.

He calmly listened to their cursing and insults
Before he tried to explain
With one simple statement he said it all
“But I wasn’t asked to fly this plane.”

How often does this fit our lives?
When things begin to fall apart.
There’s a question we must ask ourselves
And ask it from our heart.

If we curse God for all the tragedies
And place upon Him all the blame?
Do you think He might just answer
“But I wasn’t asked to fly this plane.”
