I received a Christmas card today
Beautifully decorated in shades of blue.
Inside the words carefully rhymed
Signed with the traditional “May God Bless You”

If they only knew the blessings
God had already bestowed on me.
They would have just sent a reminder
For me to open my eyes to see.

The beautiful sunrise He paints each morning
As I quietly sit and read His word.
The melodious tones of the morning birds
More beautiful than any orchestra I’ve heard.

The comfort and joy in knowing
I can go to Him with any care
And no matter what my day will bring
The assurance I have, He’s always there.

The family and friends around me
That adds such richness to my life.
I know He’s placed each and every one
To share my triumphs and my strife.

But the greatest blessings He’s given me
Is far outmatched by anything.
Because of His love and sacrifice
One day I’ll see my Lord and King.

So, I won’t offer “May God Bless You’
To help celebrate this Christmas Day
Instead I’ll offer just a reminder
“May you see God’s blessing in each new day.”
