Shipwrecks That Led To Abundant Life
Author requests article critique
The shipwreck that led me to abundant life
I once thought I was in destructive, Something a chemical made me feel,
Strong, beautiful, confident, and made of solid steel.
No one could break me, I hid behind the deception
No one would be able to make me, go in the right direction.
Looking on the outside, I looked as happy as could be
A good job, lots of money, lots of drugs that was enough for me.
The rooms on the inside, all held precious possessions
My family, my friends, my children, locked up by the gate of drug deception.
The more I sailed through life, on such smooth waters,
Having all I needed, was the drug my daily starter.
My family, my friends, my children most of all
Took the back burner of my life, I never heeded to their call.
The smooth waters I was sailing, started to come to an end,
When rough waters ahead was announced by a friend.
Not wanting to give up what I had, not wanting to surrender at all
I was a strong ship, I was never going to fall.
With all motors going full speed ahead,
Not slowing down for nothing, kept going on the path of destruction instead.
A Man called Jesus, sent His messenger to say
“Come follow Me My child, she will show you the Way.”
I didn’t want to hear about this, I didn’t want to give up what I had
I wanted my job my drugs, everything I thought was good which was bad.
One wave after another, beating against me hard
Not receiving the warning call, just holding on to the next card.
Until the day the northeastern wind blew, the strongest storm in my life
All full of darkness and despair, the day I needed to become a mother and a wife.
My battered body of steel, started falling apart,
Piece, by piece, by piece, till their was nothing left in my heart.
All things I thought was important, my money , drugs and job
All destroyed my ship, my life as I had a grip on deaths door knob.
As I was drowning ,in the sea of death I created,
Not knowing how to keep a float, I reflected on the words that were stated.
“Come follow Me My child, she will show the Way”
As of sudden out of no where the messenger came back to say.
“Will you accept Jesus, as your Lord and your Savior?”
“What else do I have to lose, at least in His eyes I see that I have found favor.
I chose life over death, on that day in 2001
It took time for me to surrender all but look what I’ve become.
A new creation in this world, full of peace and happiness
Nothing, no one, can take His place in my heart where there is bliss.
Today I stand here among each of you
Knowing the storms of life, Jesus can get you through.
“Peace” He says to the storms that you face
It’s the marathon of life you take as you run to win the race.
